The construction work to connect two sides of the pedestrian/bicycle Mokeleumne Trail bridge over State Route 4 will be delayed one week and will now take place on May 12 instead, Willis said. The delay is “due to safety concerns regarding potential driver behavior late Friday evening - on Cinco de Mayo - and into early Saturday morning,” Linsey Willis, director of external affairs for the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, said in an email. But when it dawned on Caltrans officials, they decided to postpone the overnight closure of State Route 4 in Brentwood originally set for Friday through Saturday.
